Summary: First Coast Cardiovascular Institute is seeking a front office specialist for the Duval county offices. The front office specialist is responsible for greeting patients, verifying their demographic and insurance information, collecting payments, answering phone calls, and other duties as required. The front office specialist must be willing to travel between our Jacksonville offices when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Answer telephone promptly and in a polite and professional manner*
• Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into eClinical Works*
• Schedule appointments properly and inform patient of items to bring to appointment*
• Answer questions and offer other information, as requested, to provide patient-focused service and a positive impression of the organization*
• Act as a liaison for the patients of the clinic*
• Direct calls to other departments as necessary*
• Follow up with rescheduling missed appointments as assigned*
• Greets patients.*
• Verifies insurance and scans insurance cards with a photo identification.*
• Verifies patient demographic information.*
• Verifies patient appointments for the next day.*
• Makes copies, faxes documents, and shreds documents within company protocals.*
• Takes accurate messages and conveys them to the doctor/medical assistance.*
• Opens the building at the designated time each day, ensures the readiness of the reception area, and ensures that the front desk activities are fully operational at the start of the business day.*
• Participates in staff and educational meetings.*
• Advises supervisor of items that need to be ordered for the front desk.*
• Manages incoming hospital consults/calls back paged to the doctors.*
• Collects and posts charges and payments according to protocols, prepares and balances daily financial registers, and submits all forms to their supervisor.*
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and eClinical Works.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license
